Brake Mystery Solved
After some investigation, I found out how the brake system found stock on the Kustom Kruiser Moto Glide works.
| After some research into the brakes on my ride, I found them to be
neither "Wedge Style" brakes or "Disc Style" brakes. Rather, the Nexage Roller Brake is a Shimano trademark for a variant form of a drum brake.
It uses a ring of rollers pushed outward by a cam to engage the brake
shoe with the drum. As with other drum brakes this creates a lot of heat, so thats why that big vented disc is there. The disc does nothing to actually stop the bike, it doesn't push the rollers, it just dissipates heat. If you are really interested you can use google to do a site:bike.shimano.com search for roller brakes. An interesting tidbit would be that they are listed under products on the UK version of their site, but you have to use google to access it on their North America version. Import? Well, hope this clears that up. |

Where Is Everyone?
Allo, No pics or anything, but Kendal and I did a ride on the 13th... Wow wet, no one was there, but I think I found some of Mad-Dog's stubbies on a garbage can.
Went tonight, didn't check with the site first, but should have. The 24th of November, no one was there, no rain. No more Friday ride? The light at the end of the tunnel? This is what I look forward to for the whole week inclusive. Oh well, guess will look forward to Saturdays now?
At any rate, the wind was crisp, the air was foggy, and all in all a party for two.
=P
