CHOPPERS AND SNOW
This week Thursday somehow crept up on me and the thought of riding had somehow slipped my mind. This is rare but the weather had been lousy all day and I was sure there wouldn't be a ride. I was wrong.
By the time I made it over to hook up with the usual suspects there was already six of us and we were to meet up with Pascal later on for a total of seven....not bad for a night that was calling for more cold with the possibility of rain. We headed over to the beer and wine store for refreshments and then off to the Timbers for a round at the lake.
As we approached the entrance to the park we were all aware that there would be some snow...just as it had been the last few times we rode into the park. What none of us expected, however, was not so much the snow but the long sections of thick slush and wet snow covering up solid patches of ice. It was no country for the choppers; all of us, at some point in time, had to get off our bikes and walk our trusty steeds.
We stayed for a quick round at the dock of the bay, made some offerings to the gods and then headed back to the local pub for refreshments. Food, drinks and the good company of friends made for a great time and before we knew it it was time to head for home. For an unexpected night of riding it turned out to be a pretty good ride on a pretty good night.
