Yeah,coaster brakes.I almost killed myself on that '37 Hercules that you see in the photo. I was rollin' down the hill Hastings at Victoria, a hell of a steep one. Jam on the coaster brakes;nuthin'. The brakes started kicking back and the wheel went into this wild wobble. I somehow managed to Flintstone it to a stop.Turns out that I snapped my axle.Clean shear at the coaster brake lever. The frame was heavily damaged and I had to fabricate an entirely new seat stay assembly. From now on,front drum brake !
