Elgin, JC Higgins, J.C. Higgins, They're All Sears bikes, and all freaking awesome!! I love that the Firestone bikes are all the same frames too... It's too bad there isn't more information out there about these bikes as they totally kick ass. Yes, they're not quite as good quality as a Schwinn, but they're absolutely serviceable and personally I find they fit taller riders a bit better. One really could ask why AREN'T these bikes ruling the world about now?!?

Lots of new faces this week!

Pretty much the standard ride route, I won't bore you with the details, you can check one of my other blog posts if you want to see.

I've got a few photos from the meetup I'll probably throw up later plus a few new Bike Art photos - I think I'm going to need to set up a gallery just for that somehow. Logan found a few new ways to hang, I'm a big fan of the one hand grip dangle.

I posted a bunch of new skids - take a look on the Videos page. We had a cople of first timers out, Dylan and (PLEASE forgive me if I've got it wrong!! It was the Fireball!!!) Kendal. Dylan had just picked his bike up and she had only had hers for a couple of days. Didn't manage to get a great video of Dylan but I've got a wicked one of Kendal on Dylan's bike.

Dylan has discs on his cruiser, front and rear. Meaning J-skids are going to do WAY less damage to his bike than the rest of us. I killed the 3-speed in my Sturmey a little while ago after a few too many skids but the discs take the brake out of the hub. I GUESS you could bust an axle and it's still probably kinda nasty on your wheel bearings but it seems like most people kill their 3-speeds by basically ripping the brake off the shell of the hub. Probably WAY less of a problem with the discs. I do think they should carry a 10-point penalty on J-skids though... I mean, half the fun is knowing you're risking your bike.

Cruised back over to the Plaza of Nations from there and stopped in the woods for a bit. Headed over to Science World to end out the ride and then headed for home.
