Elgin, JC Higgins, J.C. Higgins, They're All Sears bikes, and all freaking awesome!! I love that the Firestone bikes are all the same frames too... It's too bad there isn't more information out there about these bikes as they totally kick ass. Yes, they're not quite as good quality as a Schwinn, but they're absolutely serviceable and personally I find they fit taller riders a bit better. One really could ask why AREN'T these bikes ruling the world about now?!?

The rain lets up! Quick! Where's the bike!?!

Weather last night was great - it was chilly but a decent pair of gloves and a few layers takes care of that pretty quick.

We met up at Crab Park (or Portside Park if you want to get technical) on the pier - this is another meeting spot we use from time to time as it's good for the folks coming over from North Van. The pier was SLIPPERY! Be uber careful if you're out there on a bike right now. When I showed Charles, Mariette and Mad Dog were there along with Jamie, a new recruit who saw the posting on the site!! Jamie was sporting a 195x Ross, VERY cool bike complete with an electric bell! How often do you see that?!

We hung there until about 10 to 8:00 and then headed over towards the roundabout to see if anyone was there - no luck. Sounds like we missed Dylan and Kendal which is really too bad. C'est la vie - perhaps next time. Like I've mentioned in a few previous posts we've been avoiding the outside of the park lately as it's pretty cold and slippery. This time we headed inland towards False Creek and cruised on through to the Burrard Street Bridge.

We hung under the bridge for a while but skipped the J-skids - I think the only one there without a multi-speed bike was Jamie and his is way too old to be hammering on.

Next stop was the woods at the Casino. I really love that spot - it'll be a hell of a lot better when the south side is done over as right now you're staring at constructionland but hey, at least it's going in the right direction.

Jamie and I headed over to the Cambie to pick up supplies. Man it's good to know how the Cambie works - I was in and out of there in 10 minutes and that includes using the bathroom! With off-sales in tow we headed back to meet up with the group over at the Science World Gazebo.

The Gazebo party went on for a while but the North Shore crew wanted to take off for Raglan's (don't blame them) so we eventually split there. Not the longest ride on record by any means but a great time as always.

Next week I might have to give it a miss as I'm going to be traveling again (for work) but we'll see what I can do. I was totally bumed that I forgot my camera, especially with Jamie's previously unseen bike. Next time, next time... See you there!
