I Love Summer!
Despite the rain washing over us all weekend Friday was terrific!
Another week is upon us! And thankfully this time I actually was able to get out and ride before the weather rolled in on Saturday. Realized I never did a posting from last week although I did get some pics up - such is the busy times I've been having lately.
So our meetup went well - I know the turnout this week was 20+ but I never actually took a real count. On the right there you can see a new couple that rolled on up - welcome!! Can't remember your names anymore, sorry!!
The destination - Jericho Beach. We tried to get out that way last time and came ever so close but ran out of time to actually enjoy ourselves there at all. So this week we decided to cut over the Burrard Bridge and skip out the long slow trip around False Creek. Definitely a good move although we need to work on our route a little - we hauled our butts up just before Burrard where it's super steep. Lost a few people there as they didn't know quite where we were going but all got back on track soon enough. Don't you just love cell phones!!
Anyhow, over the bridge to a confusing stop by Kits beach where we couldn't seem to decide if we were coming or going. Needed a break point there but a bunch of people took off down the hill making it really hard to tell who was there and who hadn't shown up yet. That's where Serge gave me a call as he was still on the other side of the Burrard bridge going "Where the hell are you guys?!?"
Cruised along past Kits over to Point Grey Road and found our way out towards Jericho. As we start getting up the beach I look off in the distance and see this HUGE bonfire that appears to be sitting on the concrete by the fence. First thought through my head was "I hope we didn't start that fire!!!!" - turns out it was actually just over the fence safely in the sand and a small crew of people were sitting around enjoying already. We basically just rolled in and joined their party - they certainly didn't mind and heck, that fire was big enough for twice as many people as we had!!
So chilling there, see the last of the sun disappear out of the sky and Serge treating us to a nice performance - that man can really rock it!! Snagged a video of it which I'm uploading as I write this, it'll be there in the 'What's New' section before you know it. The night couldn't have been better - a good chunk of us didn't take off until about 1:30 in the morning and that was only because the cops came by on their ATVs. Funnily enough we saw them coming and what do you do but RUN!!! It was hilarious - I felt like I was 16 again. Of course they caught up with a few people in no time and made them put the fire out.
Well, timing wise it was actually perfect, we regrouped and headed over to the Naam which serves beer until 2:00. Got in there and ordered some jugs (the beer kind), had a nice big table for all of us - Dylan, Kendal, Melissa, Amber, Jess, Logan, Joe and myself were all still going strong so by last call we had the table nicely loaded. Had some rocking good enchiladas and then rolled out of there just past 3:00 in the morning.
Amber and I took off for home from there - way less of a hill if we start at Kits than if we have to hike it straight up Ontario. 13th and Granville we see our new couple from the meetup rolling along the other way!! Now I KNOW you two gotta come ride with us more - you obviously know where it's at!
Woke up Saturday morning to rain dumping like crazy... no good. Both the Dial-a-Doo wig ride AND the Naked Ride were supposed to be going on, don't think either of those would have worked out. All day i was just feeling reeeeellllaaaaaaaaxxxxeeeeeedddddddddd from Friday night, I love it I love it I love it!!!
