Elgin, JC Higgins, J.C. Higgins, They're All Sears bikes, and all freaking awesome!! I love that the Firestone bikes are all the same frames too... It's too bad there isn't more information out there about these bikes as they totally kick ass. Yes, they're not quite as good quality as a Schwinn, but they're absolutely serviceable and personally I find they fit taller riders a bit better. One really could ask why AREN'T these bikes ruling the world about now?!?

Deep Cove here we come!

The Lynnwood

Well, we ALWAYS go on about wanting to do something different... How about the North Shore!!

Wanted to do a good ride for Jaimie's birthday... Vitt was totally in to us rolling out to his place in the Cove for a BBQ, I was all over that one.  Haven't done the cove in 2 years and that was my first time so I was really hazy on what exactly I was getting in to.  The first time I did it I hadn't been back on a bike for all THAT long and even better totally mis-planned for the event.  Didn't bring food but brought LOTS of heavy, heavy tools, about 3L of water and all my beer in bottles.  That was sure fun hauling up the hill...

This time around I knew what I was doing a hell of a lot better.  The Vancouver crew met up at Crab Park for a pre-SeaBus get together and then made our way over.  Hooked up with the Shore crew and we were off!!

Well, when it comes down to it that Deep Cove ride really isn't as bad as I remembered.  Maybe it's all the other riding I've been doing but I've gotta say the Burnaby ride was a lot harder and definitely a lot longer!!  Don't get me wrong - it's not an every day kind of trip but it's definitely worth doing...

Another big part of it was the secret shortcut through Cates Park that pops you out into the residential areas around there.  You know, if you don't have to go all the way up to the Raven then don't!!  It's a whole lotta climbing without a lot of reward if you've got a better venue to check out.  Thanks Vitt!!

Anyhow, apart from a rear-ender with Dylan on the way home the return trip was pretty uneventful.  Definitely a ride to have some companions on - it'd be a bit much to do in the dark by yourself, safety in numbers.  Melissa took off for Second Narrows - must have worked out 'cuz we were only half way across on the SeaBus when she texted to say she was home!  Awesome night but that made another late one for me - sleep and I haven't spent much time together this week!
