Elgin, JC Higgins, J.C. Higgins, They're All Sears bikes, and all freaking awesome!! I love that the Firestone bikes are all the same frames too... It's too bad there isn't more information out there about these bikes as they totally kick ass. Yes, they're not quite as good quality as a Schwinn, but they're absolutely serviceable and personally I find they fit taller riders a bit better. One really could ask why AREN'T these bikes ruling the world about now?!?

2009 Cherry Blossom Ride

We're definitely going to have to make this one an annual event! The weather was great, not super hot but definitely not cold.

Cherry Blossom Bike LineupYep, spring is here and with it come the cherry blossoms that are a staple of spring in Vancouver!

Megan and Pops got this ride organized over the past few days and I sent out some texts the day before to catch whoever else we could find - ended up with a bit over 20 people at the meet up which is pretty fabulous.  The other thing that starts showing up again when the cherry blossoms come out is the ladies!  Warmer weather is definitely a good thing!!

Well unfortunately we didn't have the cherry blossom map with us, so we kind of ad-hoc figured out a route.  Took off west from Science World in to Granville Island area where we had a quick photo op stop under this great big grove of cherry trees... Notice there's nobody by the bikes?  That's 'cuz we were all shooting photos of the bikes!!

We rode on past Kits beach area (there was a police officer walking along the path over there and I could just see him getting excited about 20+ tickets...) and in to Tatlow Park for a quick restroom break.  We got a really good blossom street or two in Kits area, I think we need to actually figure out EXACTLY the right streets in there because I'm sure we were off by one or two in a few places.

Next up was the area around Valley Drive above 16th Avenue - we hit the JACKPOT in there and got tons of good blossom covered streets!  Found a baseball diamond with some bleachers to stop and sit on for a while... Don't know why I didn't pull my camera out there!!  Sometimes I look around and see everyone else shooting and think I don't need to bother before I really remember MOST OF THE REST OF YOU NEVER POST ANY OF YOUR PHOTOS!!! BOOOOOO!!!!

Good TimesYes, so after our rest break we got ourselves up to 16th and Arbutus for a quick stop at the gas station there.  Reloaded on a bunch of junk food (mmm... Fuzzy Peaches...) and said good bye to a few members of our entourage before rolling up in to Shaughnessy for a stop at the Crescent!

Once we were loaded up on sugar we did a quick beer reload stop for those who were staying out for FRIDEDAY and then over to Nat Bailey Stadium for a break before DINNER TIME over at Splitz Grill on Main street!

First time we ever cruised in here, about the only thing that could make this place better for a cruiser stopping point would be a big patio.  They're super fast and their burgers are super good - it's not fast food, they just have a good "system" in place to crank 'em out.  Totally good quality burgers...

Well that finished off the First Annual Cherry Blossom Ride!!  Can't wait for next year to do it all again!

Oh yeah, the album for the ride is HERE, there's a couple videos included, check it out!
