Another Week of Riding
Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, New West - there is no limit!
Wow, getting so I've been out so much this week I can't even remember where I was when! After a rousing Friday ride followed by the Summer Solstice ride you'd think I'd be good, but the whole reason I took the week off was to get out there and enjoy myself!
Craziest ride award goes to Surrey on Tuesday... Mad Dog, Charles and I met up at DBS for Charles to get a replacement pedal and a new bell. After some mumbo jumbo about installation charges we were outta there and on the SkyTrain bound for Surrey.
Well, we're sitting there on the train, can't really talk, generally kind of uncomfortable, well hey, let's get off and ride! Hopped off at Patterson, tried to pop by Reverend Cycles but discovered he's closed on Tuesday/Wednesday. Rode our way down in to New West - man was it HOT! Humid too... Definitely summer!
Got on the train again in New West and did our bridge crossing into Surrey... Fun doing some people watching at the beginning of rush hour, lots of people rush on to the train at New West / Columbia stations to get over the bridge. Dirty Don and I had to deal with some cell phone related matters out in Surrey - that was a kick. Turning in our phones for a set of loaners while they got repaired and the guy tries to get a credit card from Don for a deposit. "WHAT?!" After a "discussion" about how the phones we were being given were complete pieces of junk and how they were holding on to our much nicer phones anyhow they decided to let that one go... hehehe...
Next stop Don's place - took off from the mall and NEARLY ran into a huge freshly-paved sidewalk, except for a construction worker who jumped out in front of us with his "STOP" sign. That would have been messy... Followed Mad Dog on a bit of a wild goose chase but thankfully found our way where we were going.
A few really good sights... The BMX track was awesome, until we got chased off by Ms. Ultra-Conservative and Family. Umm, if you're that over-protective of your kids you really shouldn't be even taking them out of the house lady... Ehem.
So yeah, lots of riding out there! I'm very much tempted to do it again, suprisingly good times if you can make a day of it.
What else... A general week of good rides. Wednesday I actually left the house to go riding on 3 separate occasions, how often does that happen? Especially when all 3 attempts prove successful!! Mad dog and I got over the far side of the ridge, around 53rd or so - that's some new territory over there! Amber and I have flirted with the edge up there a few times - I'm not really willing to rip down there until RAV comes along and that's a few years off yet!
Things are looking good for the weekend... I just now rolled home from our Friday cruiser ride, another successful evening comes to an end. I heart my bike big time!
See you on Canada Day!!
