Any Given Friday...
The hits keep on comin'
Looks like there's already lots of other posts covering Friday!!
So the route ended up being a bit more tame than we'd originally planned - the group was pretty big, lots of first time riders out so we took it pretty easy. I've got the route map for the evening here, check it out!
Little look across the group as we were meeting up. The sun was going down - this is before everyone had shown up . I arrived at the roundabout to find a good dozen or so riders already there - you know it's going to be a good time!
Bryce has made yet another change to his creation... He couldn't stick around but stopped by to say hi anyhow...
Lots of lovely ladies out!! The Turk certainly is enjoying himself... Yet another benefit to warmer weather!!
Shot a picture in the dark of a well positioned bike. Flash fired and "OH! That's MY bike!" D'oh...
Found a fire going, decided to check it out for a while. Good times... Still a bit chilly out but hey, it's only April!
Definitely good times...
Rolled from our meetup spot around to the gun... got a good echo, always good for a laugh too seeing the people who aren't expecting it. Always funny to see who's going to jump the highest!! We definitely had a mob last night... Leaving the roundabout a few of us decided to go up over the park and then drop down again near the parking lots to join up with the ride... We'd taken off pretty near the front of the group and ended up right at the tail by the time we rolled back down. Works out perfect actually - gives those of us who are looking for a bit of a climb an opportunity to warm up. Probably going to keep that one filed away for future rides...
After waiting nearly all winter the lower path around the lighthouse is finally open again. Yay, no more hiking the bikes up the hill!! Took off around there, they've added a bit of a nasty bike trap at the tail end, definitely keep an eye out for it.
Got ourselves to the water park... just had a quick stop there. Washrooms are open again now, so as long as you get there before 10:00 or so you're all good. Great stop for the ladies, there's not a lot else through the rest of the park.
Also back on the riding menu is Beaver Lake... Took us up our usual route and did a couple laps of the lake. Never really ended up stopping up there though, just kept going around and around until we veered out again and up to Pipeline Road. Actually lost a couple people in there but we had Don to guide the tail end of the ride out.
Next stop through the rose gardens and back to the roundabout. I had a group of about 4 or 5 of us, the main pack were all up ahead and the stragglers were nowhere in sight so we kept on going around to the pool where we found the Turk and the tail end of the fast group. Got moving again after a quick break and headed out to the fences to finish up the night.
Made sure we took good care of that fire we stumbled across... Gotta be careful out there, don't want to be burning down the park! Ok, so that's not too likely at this time of year but good habits are important... ;)
Rolled back towards the West End from there... Dylan kept me company up to about 8th and Ontario where we stopped for a quick break - awesome. Definitely made the trip home a lot less boring! Rolled in the door at about 2:00am, called up Pizza King for some late night delivery and passed out on the couch until the guy was at the door. Ate my dinner, fell asleep again until 4:00 or so when Amber came to drag me to bed. Definite good times... :D
Next week is looking good so far, should be even warmer! See you there!
