Elgin, JC Higgins, J.C. Higgins, They're All Sears bikes, and all freaking awesome!! I love that the Firestone bikes are all the same frames too... It's too bad there isn't more information out there about these bikes as they totally kick ass. Yes, they're not quite as good quality as a Schwinn, but they're absolutely serviceable and personally I find they fit taller riders a bit better. One really could ask why AREN'T these bikes ruling the world about now?!?

Bike To Work Week 2009

It's about that time again!! Bike To Work Week is nearly here! Let's show 'em that you can ride something OTHER than a crappy commuter bike!

Bike To Work WeekLast year for Bike To Work Week I managed to pull it off every day... I should mention my ride is about an hour straight up to the top of Burnaby by Metrotown, so I think I should get a BIT of props for it!!  Anyhow, if I can do it on a bike built out of spare parts then you can do it on your ride!

Good thing about Bike To Work Week is it gives you a chance to get all the logistics sorted out - where's your bike going to go, how do you get access to the shower at your work (provided you have one!), all those kinds of things.  Once you've done all of that it's a lot easier to keep it up.  I think I ended up riding in 30 or so times over last summer!

Nice thing about riding to the top of a hill for work?  IT'S ALL DOWNHILL HOME!!

Oh yeah, Bike To Work Week is run by the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition, which can be found online here:

Let me know in the comments if you're thinking of doing it - we can make a Vancruisers team!!
