Merry Christmas 2007!
Happy holidays from Vancruisers!
Well, another year rolls by! Tomorrow morning kids will be waking up to find a shiny new bike under the tree, hopefully making them addicts for life... Well, maybe not the kid with the unicycle...
So 2007 has been a pretty crazy year... Found new routes all over the city, dealt without the SeaWall for almost a full year and had a lot of changes to our little corner of the cruiser community. Definitely a year of growth and learning, if that doesn't sound too sappy...
I guess the biggest thing I've learned is you really can't please all of the people all of the time... And that sometimes you really do have to choose who you want to ride with. We've all been a bit more closed off from the "general public" quite a bit more since the end of the summer, but it's made for some really incredibly good rides. I pretty much always feel like I want to share cruising with EVERYONE out there - that everybody should get on a bike and get riding. I still think that's true, but maybe not necessarily riding with me... ;)
Friday rides have still been going great, although now that the ski hills have opened a lot of people have vanished up to the slopes... Last couple weeks haven't worked out due to weather but that's kind of expected at this time of year.
I always think of Christmas time as the "rebirth" of cruising... I don't think I ever go for as long a period without getting on my bike as I do right now. So much going on, weather all over the place and everyone is busy with something that isn't necessarily getting out there and rolling. The 2007 cruising season is pretty much done, just in time for 2008 to start!
So here's to another year of cruising, let's all raise a beer to Rod for making so much of this happen, to my buddy Keir who got me out on a cruiser for the first time, to all the great people out there who come out and ride! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Solstice, whatever your choice have a good holiday and a happy New Year!

Thanks!
Cheers, JK
