Elgin, JC Higgins, J.C. Higgins, They're All Sears bikes, and all freaking awesome!! I love that the Firestone bikes are all the same frames too... It's too bad there isn't more information out there about these bikes as they totally kick ass. Yes, they're not quite as good quality as a Schwinn, but they're absolutely serviceable and personally I find they fit taller riders a bit better. One really could ask why AREN'T these bikes ruling the world about now?!?

Rock Lobster Birthday Ride

How's THAT for a good time?!

Waiting...Awesome ride on Saturday... The full album is here but I've included some nice samples in this posting...

So we met up at the Roundabout, figuring on a park ride.  Meet up was supposed to be at 5:00 but hey, we're on cruiser time right?

Amber and I rolled in at about 5:30 to find a decent crew already there... Still no Charles though!  OK, we'll wait a bit longer...  Cruiser time, right?

Getting There...

We definitely got lots of attention once the bikes were all lined up... People coming along to take pictures, just enjoying the sights, beautiful day.

Had one guy ripping along on a tandem bike (by himself) - I guess we were too distracting as he lost it and NEARLY did a front-tire-into-immovable-object but managed to recover it at the last minute.  Well, at least managed to do a "Flying Dismount" at the last minute and avoid crunching himself too bad.  Ooops...  The joys of tourists on rental bikes, eh?

Anyhow, still waiting...

'Bout Time!

6:00 or so - Charles and family appear!  About 15 of us by this point, and still missing Lou!  OK, keep on waiting...

Too Cool

How about Kendal on Mad Dog's Schwinn Chopper?  I think she needs one now...

Anyhow, once we had everyone together it was time to get rolling!!  The plan was to stay flat - lots of first time riders out, a couple of big choppers and Serge didn't want to get his tires dirty before the Show 'n Shine so no trails or anything for him.  As always so much for the route plan...

Got ourselves going through the park over to English Bay.  Serge was having some mechanical issues off the start, managed to do an in-flight repair by the washrooms and then we all rolled down to the Burrard Bridge for some skids!

Hey Ladies!

We stayed around under the bridge for a bit - Dirty Don was just finishing up some things at home and was getting ready to SkyTrain in for a meet up - no reason for us to hurry!  We'd just end up waiting up ahead...

My ever-lovely lady on the left!

Sunshine!

I think we were up to about 16 of us or so by this point... Still more to come!!

More Rocky Point

Next stop, Rocky Point...

Don was supposed to be giving us a call when he was about in to Main station, so we kept the chill on for a while here...

All day we'd been seeing cruisers roll by and as always we'd ring and say hello - never know when you're going to get someone new on your ride!  Low and behold a group of 4 rolled by led by Nigel!  They coasted on down and joined our crew for the evening.  Good times.

From there we rolled over towards Science World to meet up with Don.  Timing is everything!  The day was going well and all our first-timers were having a blast.  Excellent...

We headed on around False Creek - lost a couple riders just after that but we were still about 18 strong.  Good times... Got about as far as Stamp's Landing before hunger decided to strike...

Well, what have we here, a cell phone?  OK, let's give Yagger's a call and get us some VIP treatment!

Reserved Seating

Rolled ourselves through Downtown over to Pender.  Yagger's had reserved the front section for us - only thing is here we are with nearly 20 bikes!!  What to do what to do...

Well, the two big choppers rolled on in to make conversation pieces for the evening, and the rest of us rolled around back to our top secret secure parking.  Got to take the VIP entrance in and set ourselves up for some good eats!

If you're rolling in to Yagger's order a pint of the Whistler!  You get a wicked glass to drink it out of - I want a set!!  Andre and I both ended up getting glass envy after seeing Lou with his - how often do you end up ordering beer just to hold the glass?!

Anyhow, awesome time... Getting towards 11:00 when we rolled out, yeah a bit early for a Saturday night normally but I personally had to be up for Toxic Harald's Show'n'Shine out in Richmond.  Don led a Downtown exploratory expedition and most of the rest of us headed our separate ways.  G'Night everyone!
