Elgin, JC Higgins, J.C. Higgins, They're All Sears bikes, and all freaking awesome!! I love that the Firestone bikes are all the same frames too... It's too bad there isn't more information out there about these bikes as they totally kick ass. Yes, they're not quite as good quality as a Schwinn, but they're absolutely serviceable and personally I find they fit taller riders a bit better. One really could ask why AREN'T these bikes ruling the world about now?!?

Saturday November 18

Last Saturday was absolutely gorgeous for mid-November. Hope you got out too!

Like I'm sure I've mentioned Amber got a new bike a couple of weeks ago so she's been really eager to get out and ride. The weather on Saturday was too nice to miss - clear blue skies and not a drop of rain to be found.

Our first stop was Ride Away Bike Shop where I snapped a few pics for the site plus scored a new tail light. Ride Away has re-arranged the shop a bit, looks great. They've got a sale on right now too so go down and check it out!

From there we headed over to the Sally Ann thrift shop... I managed to score a cordless drill for $6! No charger but I already had exactly the same drill with a bad battery. Guess what, it works! Only downside is I had to haul that around with me for the rest of the day.

It's straight down to Kits from there so away we headed. LOTS of bikes out and about, I was wondering if I was going to see any familiar faces! We stopped for a bit so Amber could shoot some pics of her Electra Black Betty.

A quick sample to the left but you can find more pics here in my photo album - there's pics of Ride Away in there too.

It was so nice out we just hung in the park for a while watching the sights and such, totally relaxing. It's been a while since I've had a nice-weather daylight ride!

Continued on to some of the parks past Troll Beach where we spotted the eagle, how often does that happen? (well, on the west coast pretty often but who's counting). We stopped for a while and soaked up the sights - the eagle took off after a bit and was circling the area for a while afterwards. What a day - you really just can't plan things like that.

Cut over to Tatlow Park next and then up through Kits. There's a good crosstown route that goes from 8th Avenue to Arbutus then up to 10th or so across. For us we cut up to 13th and just go straight along, nice and easy with no nasty hills.

Like I said earlier you really need to grab those snippets of cruiser weather when you can. There's precious few places in Canada that you could be out on a bike in the middle of November and not need to be dressed for arctic weather!
