Spring has Sprung!
So, anyhow Sunday afternoon... This whole week is supposed to be BAD in the weather department. Sunday afternoon though was looking gorgeous - not quite clear but dry, not looking like rain at all and most importantly WARM! I had a bunch going on earlier in the day so I was just looking to have a nice little afternoon cruise.
Hooked up with a few of the usual suspects down at Science World... Joe brought along his Elgin Twin Bar. If you haven't seen one of these before (and chances are you haven't!!) these bikes are just unreal. The whole frame basically acts like a giant spring giving you a nice cushy ride without suspension. Naturally the design has its weaknesses - metal doesn't like being bent back and forth for 70 years so there's only so many of these bikes left in ridable condition. Joe is lucky enough to have one!
Seems like EVERYONE in Vancouver was out to enjoy the day too - we could barely find a spot to stop to meet up in the first place. Decided that Stanley Park was probably too busy to be any fun and headed West along through False Creek instead. Rather than force our way along through Granville Island and such we headed south across the Land Bridge up over to 7th Avenue and headed West.
Took it easy, cruised along through Kits just enjoying the day. Eventually found our way down to Jericho where I snapped the pictures while we enjoyed the view.
What can you do but enjoy?
Rode on back the other way, the people had calmed down a bit by then since it was getting towards dinner time. Met up with Don around Cambie and rode on around towards the Casino to finish it off.
Just a little one, but I'm sure glad I got out. This morning I looked out to see the downpour and remembered yesterday. That's the thing about cruising - you can always just lean back and remember that feeling, being free, coasting along, pure enjoyment. Doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing, nobody can ever take that away from you.
See you out there!
