Toxic Harold's 14th Annual Ride / Show 'n Shine
It's Spring! Time for a Show 'n Shine!
It's spring!! And what better way to show we've entered the riding season than with Toxic Harold's 14th Annual Show and Shine!
Serge of course was hard at work getting those last little details taken care of... Gotta get those tires clean! Persistence pays off though as we'll see later on...
Check out this beauty! Absolutely fresh and clean - this gorgeous Monark could have been made yesterday. Every detail was perfect - I didn't find out if this was one of Harold's paint jobs or not but it certainly looks good enough!
Everywhere you look there's beautiful bikes... Rod has this gorgeous Hawthorne up for sale - I was oogling it at his ride back at the beginning of April... It's things like this that make me sit there going "Hmmm... can I fit another bike in there??"... I know I don't want to part with any of them and I'm not sure I can fit any more in until I change my mind there... Dang...
Richmond is DEAD flat so it makes for a nice summer ride... We did have a few examples of driver insanity going along here - single lane highway, double yellow. You've got 70 bikes in front of you - obviously the right thing to do is to try and pass all of us heading towards oncoming traffic. If just one person had done it I'd think they were an idiot but a couple dozen cars must have tried the same thing. I mean, would you try to pass a semi like that?!
Got ourselves out to a nice pier by the river... Sunshine, good times... Chopper Ron here is definitely enjoying the day!
This is beyond spring right in to summer! Still a tiny chill in the air but the sun's got heat again...
Too many nice bikes, not enough space on my camera... I of course forgot my memory card so I couldn't shoot any video but this little contraption rocks. Mattel made these little units here - battery operated, makes engine sounds complete with throttle!
Pretty much everyone was represented! I mean, how often do you see a rickshaw from Thailand out and about?
Finally back to Toxic Harold's for the actual competition!!
Trophies here from left to right are:
- Best in Show
- Best Chopper
- Best Vintage Custom
- Best Vintage Original
- Best Modern Road/MTB
We had hockey game timing issues so I couldn't stay for all the presentations but I was there long enough to see a couple trophies get handed out...
...including to Serge for his Hercules custom!!! Go Serge!!!
I've got so many pictures from the day I couldn't possibly fit them all here... If I'd had my memory card there would have been even more but check out the complete photo album over here - well worth it!!
