Last summer my wife of 15 yrs suffered quite an accident that left her with an acquired brain injury. Up until that day we would ride everyday, together. The Dr's said once we took her off the ventilator she would most likely pass on.
Well we had an angel with us because she is here today, 8 months later. It's been quite an experience seeing my best friend, and wife recover to this day. She has learned to walk again, feed herself, talk, basically she has re-learned all we learn from infants to adulthood. When she asked me last month if she could ride again I was not only floored, but overcome with joy. Riding is a passion for both of us.
I immediately sought out a trike but could not find 1 anywhere. The doorbell rang one day and there stood a few of the neighborhood kids that had a surprise for Shannon. One of them had outgrown it and said it wouldn't be hard to do my magic so Shannon could ride again. So T.J., Kyle, and Nathan I owe you guys BIG TIME! Your parents taught you well and should be proud!

I
build these bikes as a hobby and a cool way to get around town. I ride
everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Every time I ride it is on a
different custom RednXXX built ride. I get ALOT of looks, some strange
but mostly "cool bike man where did ya get it". Now we build another
one...

I
got the bike (and several others) at a police auction a few years ago.
I stripped it down to just a frame and had it hot tanked to remove ALL
the nasty "stolen bike spray bomb" paint job. I personally did the
paint myself. I then proceeded to spend LOTS of $$$ and countless hours
building the bike I dreamed of having as a kid. The end result I am a
kid again READY for this years race season...

Not
a Specialized Vegas anymore. I raked the head tube to a SICK angle.
Custom built a set of chromed out straight bars and forks. The last mod
was the third wheel addition with a sturmey archer 3-spd internal hub
shifting. I am, in the process of fabricating a "suicide" style shifter
and will finish the bike off when my day job aint so busy.

Story
|
This
bike is special because the person I built it for is a very special
person to myself. She was my partner of 16 yrs and 2 years ago suffered
an injury that left her with an acquired brain injury. We used to ride
our BMX's everywhere with our 3 kids, and now we can do just that
again... RIDING is not just a pastime, or a way to get around for us.
RIDING is a passion. When you ride on something that you crafted
yourself from your own imagination you get an even bigger sense of what
it is to RIDE!
